Our league is proud to be part of the Loudoun County Softball Alliance, as well as the Loudoun Youth Sports Council. We are dedicated to working with girls of all ages who are interested in developing their skills is this great game! We play with our neighboring leagues to further promote competition and gamesmanship.
What Division Should I Register For?
Parents: If your daughter has skills that more closely match a different division, contact Mr. Pat Ward, our Director of Operations. We'll be glad to work with you to determine the proper placement. The dates for player assessments will be determined shortly.
NOTE FOR PROSPECTIVE COACHES AND VOLUNTEERS-- The league's success depends on many people willing to volunteer time toward many tasks. The more volunteers we have, the less time required by volunteers. We hope you'll consider giving a few hours to the Spring season. In particular: * Coaches: We need coaches in the 6u, 8u and 10u age groups. Our girls rely on our coaches to assist with instruction on the game of softball. Many find it helpful to "share" coaching responsibilities with 1 or 2 others. If you are interested, click on the FORMS link, found under the Business menu, and complete a volunteer participation form. COACHES: DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR A POSITION IS MARCH 14TH. * Fundraising coordinator: We need someone who can assist in coordinating our fundraising activities. This function works with the league VP to develop a program. * Umpires: We pay $30 per game for our umpires in the 10u age group. Anyone 14 years of age and over are invited to participate in this program. Training and uniform/equipment are provided. Complete an application form, found on the FORMS page, under the Business link. Questions can be directed to Pat Ward (operations@llgsl.com).
LLGSL is pleased to be part of the recently formed Loudoun County Softball Alliance. Below is a copy of the text from a recent press release. Unprecedented Softball Alliance Formed Across Loudoun County and Beyond January 16, 2008 – Leesburg Girls Softball League (LGSL) , Lower Loudoun Girls Softball League (LLGSL), Ashburn Girls Softball League (AGSL), Upper Loudoun Girls Softball League (ULGSL) and Reston/Herndon Girls Softball League (HOYS) are proud to announce the creation of a formal alliance that represents all of the premier girls fast-pitch softball organizations within and near Loudoun County. This remarkable alliance is the first of its kind to cross leagues and benefit the same sport. The Loudoun County Softball Alliance (LCSA) symbolizes the cooperation and commitment of the five leagues to participate in inter-league play under common sets of rules. LCSA also provides the maximum opportunities available for the girls to play softball. The Alliance represents 1,500 players from 5 different leagues. "We are all excited about being part of this Alliance. It will give the girls an opportunity to play more teams which will help them develop their skills, promote friendships, teamwork, and respect for others," said Todd Evans, President, Leesburg Girls Softball League. The leagues represented in the alliance provide opportunities for girls of all skill levels aged 5-18 to participate in fast-pitch softball. The opportunities offered range from tee-ball up to travel programs for girls seeking to play at the college level. This is the first such alliance for the fast-pitch leagues playing in Loudoun County. For more information contact loudounsballiance@verizon.net or check out the Alliance website (www.freewebs.com/lcsa).
